A PEMF session goes more smoothly with a little preparation beforehand and a few notes afterwards. This post covers both.
Before a session, read the guide and set up the space
Start with the maker’s instructions. Read them through before your first session, and again if you change a setting. Systems differ, so the guide for yours is the one to follow for placing the equipment and setting it up.
Then arrange the practical things:
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Put a glass of water within reach.
- Pick a quiet space with room to lie or sit for the whole session.
- Keep the guide close by, in case you need to check a setting.
How long a session lasts depends on the system and the maker’s instructions. Check that first, so you know how much time to set aside.
If a session does not feel right, stop
If you feel uncomfortable at any point, stop the session and check your position and the setting in the guide before you carry on.
After a session, write it down and allow time
Note the date and how long the session ran in a simple log. A notebook or a note on your phone is enough. Over a few weeks the log shows when you actually use the system, and you can move the session if it clashes with something.
Then give yourself a few minutes and stand up when you are ready. To me, a session is easier to keep up when it is not squeezed between two other jobs, so leave a gap before the next thing on your list.
If you are unsure, check with your doctor first
If you have questions about your health, talk to your doctor or another health professional before you begin. Do not use a PEMF system if you have epilepsy, are pregnant or have certain implants. The maker’s instructions list the full cautions for your system.
