These are the questions people ask before they try PEMF, with a short answer to each.
What is PEMF?
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field. It is a non-invasive wellness system for everyday use.
A PEMF system produces low-frequency electromagnetic pulses while you lie comfortably.
What happens in a session?
You lie down comfortably while the system runs, and a session is designed to be a calming, relaxing experience.
The frequency and intensity of the pulses can be adjusted, so the setting can change from one person to the next.
How long is a session?
It depends on the system and the maker’s instructions. The guide that comes with yours gives the length.
Can I use a PEMF system at home?
Yes, portable systems let people use PEMF at home. The cautions in the next answer apply at home too.
Who should check with a doctor first?
People who are pregnant, have epilepsy or have certain implants should not use a PEMF system without speaking to their doctor first.
The same goes if you are already working with a doctor or a healthcare provider on something. Ask them before you add PEMF to your routine. If in doubt, ask first.
Will PEMF suit me?
No. It isn’t for everybody.
I can’t tell you whether it will suit you. If you aren’t sure, your doctor is the person to ask.
What should I look for in a PEMF system?
Look for one that is easy to use and comes with support you can reach after you have it.
- Different systems offer different levels of intensity, so ask what the one you are looking at offers.
- Ease of use counts, especially at home.
- A portable system goes where you do.
- The maker should give you support and guidance on using it.
To me, the support matters most.
How does it fit with the rest of my routine?
It sits alongside everyday routines such as gentle exercise, a balanced diet, drinking enough water, yoga or meditation.
